Lexington, MA — September 22, 2008 — AER Inc., leading experts in tropical prediction, released several enhancements to hCast-SR, their 5-day probabilistic hurricane forecast. The new enhancements provide energy traders, insurers and reinsurers additional tools for tracking and monitoring tropical events in the Atlantic basin.
hCast –SR is a 5-day probabilistic hurricane track and intensity forecast service that monitors tropical activity throughout the Atlantic Basin and Gulf of Mexico. Over 100 independent track forecasts are statistically interpreted to quantify landfalling hurricane risk along the East and Gulf coasts of the US.
“These additions to hCast -SR enhance an already robust forecast service. Our customers now have the ability to accurately track and obtain advanced notice with respect to potential areas of tropical development, providing them with more time to consider hedging options”, said Cecilia Sze, AER’s President and CEO.
