Both 3E Company and AER operate as subsidiaries of Verisk Analytics (Nasdaq:VRSK).
3E Company received a Business Achievement Award from Environmental Business Journal® in the information technology category, while AER received a Business Achievement Award from Climate Change Business Journal® in the low-carbon and renewable power category. The dual wins serve as objective third-party validation of Verisk’s ongoing commitment to expanding its innovative data-driven solutions and services for the management, measurement, and reduction of risk in the environmental arena.
“We applaud both 3E and AER for their outstanding achievements in the environmental and renewable power industries,” said Grant Ferrier, president of Environmental Business International Inc. (EBI, San Diego), publisher of Environmental Business Journal and Climate Change Business Journal. “EBJ is pleased to honor 3E for the seventh consecutive year. Today we recognize 3E’s product safety data that reduces environmental risk in multiple industries across the supply chain. We also welcome AER to the renewable power category with an award for their innovations in forecasting solar energy and wind power resources.”
“In industries that still present challenges in many segments, both 3E’s product safety data and AER’s solar and wind energy forecasting solutions have made successful forays into new practice areas and developed technologies that can help build a more sustainable economy and reduce environmental risk in multiple industries across the supply chain,” continued Ferrier.
The EBJ Business Achievement Awards recognize innovation and value creation in the market. Sponsored by Environmental Business International, which publishes the Environmental Business Journal, the 2012 EBJ Business Achievement Award winners were determined by a committee of EBJ staff and EBJ editorial advisory board members. Criteria for the award included revenue growth, profitability gains, technology innovations, and noteworthy expansions or acquisitions.
3E Company was recognized for a number of strategic product rollouts and enhancements in 2012, including its ongoing support for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) for the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) across all business units and products with 3E’s MSDgen SDS authoring platform. The company’s support for the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA); Exposure Scenario authoring service; expanded Ariel regulatory content coverage of the food, cosmetics, and narcotics industries; and enhanced news coverage in the WebInsight global regulatory reference tool were all recognized by EBJ. This is the seventh consecutive Environmental Business Journal Business Achievement Award win for 3E Company.
AER received a Business Achievement Award in the climate change category for developing new approaches and methods for measuring and forecasting solar and wind resources that allow renewable power plant developers to measure more accurately both long-term production and short-term variations in resource availability. AER developed the Solance™ solar irradiance forecast specifically tailored to the needs of concentrated solar power (CSP) plants. AER was also lauded for developing a new method specifically designed for the offshore wind energy market to provide synthetic 30‐year climatologies — at ultra‐high space and time resolution — of wind at hub height.
“We’re delighted that both 3E and AER have won Business Achievement Awards,” said Scott Stephenson, president and chief operating officer of Verisk Analytics. “Both companies are leaders in their respective industries and are united by the common goal that all Verisk companies share: the desire to reduce risk, facilitate compliance, and create safer living and working environments. We applaud 3E’s and AER’s dedication to innovation and commend them for continually striving for excellence.”
The 2012 EBJ awards will be presented at a special ceremony at the Environmental Industry Summit XI in Coronado, California, on March 6–8, 2013. The Environmental Industry Summit is an annual three-day event hosted by EBI Inc.
